Michelle Lewis

Michelle’s career as a songwriter began 15 years ago, when, as an artist signed to Giant Records, the more commercial songs she wrote for her albums began to get covered by other artists (like Kelly Osbourne, Lindsay Lohan and Cher). She soon decided that there was more dignity in writing songs for other people than there was in shlepping around the country in a van and moved to Los Angeles (from her native NYC) to begin writing songs full time. Her experience as a singer and artist herself allows her to bring a highly credible and artistic touch to her writing with and for a diverse group of artists – from Fefe Dobson to Raven Symone to Michelle Branch… from Allstar Weekend to Kris Allen to Better Than Ezra. But she has also attained commercial success worldwide – having won several awards and written Top 10 hits and songs on platinum selling albums. This commercial success has made her a sought-after collaborator and top-line writer in the pop world – currently working with such heavy hitters as Kara DioGuardi, Walter Afanassief, JR Rotem, Kevin Griffin, Busbee & many others. Most recently, Michelle has begun to expand her writing abilities past the three-and-a-half minute pop song to create and sell music-based television shows (Myles & Mazzy, The Shut Up Stella Show, Yoganimals), and to compose original music for an entire TV series, like ABC Family’s Ruby and the Rockets and the up-coming Disney series, Doc McStuffins, for which she and her long-time writing partner and band mate, Kay Hanley, wrote all of the original songs for 52 episodes. She also co-wrote and produced the Parents Choice Award winning album, Camp Lisa with Lisa Loeb, which has been turned into a musical by the City Theater in Miami, FL and a book series with Sterling Books.
