S1, aka Symbolyc One, (born Larry D. Griffin Jr.), grew up in Waco, TX, infatuated with old tunes that played on his parents’ turntable. This led him to learn the alto sax and piano through out his teen years and in church, and eventually led him to venture into the art of production and making beats. In 1999, he received his Associates Degree in Applied Science: Audio Engineering, which required him to take his music theory and ear training to another level. In 2007, S1 began competing in National Beat Competitions (iStandard, Red Bull Big Tune & Sha Money’s One Stop Shop) across the U.S. In those competitions, he always placed near the top, acquiring many new fans and meeting industry executives. Today, S1 is the main producer of the highly acclaimed group, Strange Fruit Project. His style and production ranges stretch beyond all genres from R&B to Soul, from Underground to Urban Pop and everything else in between. As an up-and-coming super producer, S1 has gone on to work with great artists such as Erykah Badu, Stat Quo, Rhymefest, Rah Digga, Ghostface, Little Brother, and is a core member in Erykah Badu’s electronic band, The Cannabinoids. He has gone on to produce/co-produce the hit single “Power” for Kanye West, Beyonce’s “Best Thing I Ever Had' and Jay-Z/Kanye’s 'Murder to Excellence.”
